Eviction Moratorium extended in North Carolina for renters and landlords

May 5th, Federal Judge overturns CDC's eviction moratorium. And -

Asheville NC: Gov. Roy Cooper just signed an executive order to extend protections against evictions. The governor’s order states the same date as the current CDC eviction moratorium, which runs through June 30.

The moratorium has been in place since September 2020, leaving tenants anxious and many landlords wondering how they will pay the mortgage as some tenants have not paid since last September.

The majority of landlords are everyday people, not often the rich investors that are portrayed as landlords. Many have inherited a home, or bought a home to rent as an investment towards their retirement, and many could face losing their investments if this is not carefully managed.

It also means that it is difficult for a landlord to sell their home; a time constrained problem as we are likely at the top of the real estate market.

If you are renting a home - or a landlord, please keep those lines of communication open!
